Amartya Sen’s Opening Remarks for the IPSP’s First Author Meeting in Istanbul this past August
Amartya Sen is is Thomas W. Lamont University Professor, and Professor of Economics and Philosophy, at Harvard University. His research includes economic theory, social choice theory, ethics and political philosophy, theory of measurement, decision theory, development economics, theory of measurement, gender studies and public health.
He has served as the President of the Econometric Society, the American Economic Association, the Indian Economic Association, and the International Economic Association and was formerly Honorary President of OXFAM and is now its Honorary Advisor.
Amartya Sen is President of the International Panel on Social Progress’s Honorary Advisory Committee. Although he was unable to attend our first author’s meeting held at Bilgi University in Istanbul, Turkey this august, his presence remained. Here are his inspirational opening remarks for our authors.
