The Oct. 2023 meeting of the Advisory Board has chosen priority themes in order to address the key interconnected challenges of our time: the need for a better economic paradigm ensuring social cohesion, the need for deep changes in behaviors and identities to foster an engaged global citizenry, the regeneration of democratic ideals and practices through innovation in participation and deliberative practices, the need to overhaul our relation to nature away from the dominant extractivist paradigm and with appropriate legal frameworks, and the urgency of developing mechanisms to protect basic human needs in health, peace and security.
In addition to these broad themes, cross-cutting themes have been identified around the need to understand the systemic interdependence between the components of social and planetary dynamics and around the need to improve data collection and measurement approaches to better grasp what needs to be known and relied upon in action.
